turtle power

a gift for my sister who loves her some tmnt. this hangs on the
wall but sits flat  on a table too
my rough lil model. i ultimately made it simpler and flatter

i made the sewer pipe by bending one sided cardboard over a form , gooping in epoxy, then bending another
cardboard piece over. pretty light n strong

i mean, this thing is mostly card board , foam and aluminum foil
super sculpey leonardo. i didn't detail the shell much
because it is mostly hidden. i had to cut this hand off
to change the angle to better hold the sword

the hand is made  of sheet metal . i built up the fingers with milliput after firing

tin foil turtle

early rocksteady supersculpey

baked rocksteady with milliput details

i had a strip of sheet metal attached to the hand to build the wrench around.
i layered styrene and details made of instamorph. i used a file pressed on warmed instamorph to
get the jaws of the wrench

his feet were also generally not detailed. i added his left hand later
because at the time i wasn't sure how it would interact with the surroundings
a pizza box to float down my river of poo

i made the handle out of hard styling clay then made
a little rubber mold below. the scabbard ? is made of styrene

yeah...

tiny hardware that attaches some pipes at the bottom
the pipes mentioned above are missing in this view

the water is painted foam with clear resin poured over top. clear gloss
extra heavy gel does the "waves"

his straps and belts are bristol board coated in gel medium. but that is mostly lost
without the aid of a flashlight

that vent is the best thing i've ever made. styrene and a lil piece
of drywall sanding sheet. the gel isn't completely dry next to the pizza box

getting the drop
the pipes along the bottom were the only thing i bought other than some
gloss extra heavy gel. the rest was sitting around my studio
